UFC Atlantic City this weekend. Manon Fiorot vs. New Jersey’s Erin Blanchfield, or should we say “Blanchield” –

“Blanchield vs. Fiorot”

Right there on the backdrop. Come on man! Or woman. You had one job. It’s one thing to publish typos on a two-bit blog like this one, but this is the UFC we’re talking about here. Surely someone double and triple checked that thing before it went to print.

No matter. UFC AC will be good. People are shitting on this card, but I kind of like it. Why? Well, Erin Blanchfield is a killer. 12-1, undefeated in the UFC, #2 ranked flyweight. She’s going up against 11-1 Fiorot, also unbeaten in the promotion and ranked #3. This is basically a title eliminator and one of the fighters is in her home state. It’s a legitimate headliner.

Then you’ve got Vicente Luque in the co-main, another Jersey guy who always entertains. Local products Bill Algeo and Andre Petroski are on the card. Former champ Chris Weidman is on the card. It’s fine. It’s a Fight Night that’s taking place before UFC 300, so the booking focus has been on the bigger pay per view slates in April, May, and June. This one is not a card for casuals, “but that’s okay,” as Joe Cordell once said.
