This Charity Flag Football Game Got So Intense We Had to Stop the Championship!

So I’ve played in the NRG Media Charity Game twice now, and before my first go at it last year, I told myself not to be the hard ass. No one likes Mr. Glory Days. We’re all a bunch of out-of-shape buffoons taking a break from work for a good cause. Well, I quickly learned that goes out the window immediately. If you’re not being the hard ass at these games, you’re in the minority. The players want to win, but the Eagles legends that coach us downright will rip a ref’s throat box out for that championship trophy. It’s awesome! I will walk with a limp for the next week. It got so out of hand we had to stop the championship mid-game:
I wonder if that’s the first wardrobe malfunction in NRG Media game history. When you play balls to the wall that’s going to happen. Sometimes you end up with the flag and sometimes you end up with a fist full of nylon. At least I took one of their best players out of the game for a little. Gregg Williams would be happy.
Listen A LOT of people have thoughts on the throw…
I mean A LOT:

Do you have a torn rotator?

Put a postage stamp on that ball, because you could have mailed it faster than that

As a team guy I’ll say this – it was both of our faults. I tried to aim it, held on to the ball a little to long, but she has to catch that. Do I have to make that tackle? Absolutely. That’s where the game was lost. We were in the driver’s seat to put some pressure on Team Nemours and I blew it. Gotta take care of the ball. Ball security is job security.
I will point out one thing, the haters were SILENT when I posted this:
You hate to see the critics in real time pray on your downfall. Picking and choosing when to lift your athletes up and when to tear them down is bad business. The disrespect has been logged.
I can’t believe I lost in the championship game again. I was ready for my Jalen Hurts revenge moment and I ran out of gas. Next year I promise I’m coming back bigger, better, and with a Howitzer. At least I got Casey Boy’s autograph so the entire day wasn’t a total waste:
On a serious note, shout out to NRG! We raised $36,000 for Philabundance, Nemours, CHOP, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. They do an awesome job with this event and it gets better and better every single year. I thought they crushed it with who they invited this year. It used to be mostly media members from the news and NBC Sports Philly. Now it’s expanded to blogs like ours and social media people from around the city. I’ve already gotten a ton of DMs from people that want to be in it next year.
