This Was the Greatest Trash Strike of My Life

As you know, the Great Philly Trash Strike ended on Wednesday. The greatest trash strike of my lifetime. Not because it worked out for the workers. The Mayor got what she wanted, DC33 took an L, and we’ll probably be back in this same situation in three or so years. Take a bird’s-eye view with me during the first trash strike of my existence as I was boots-on-the-ground down at Broad & Snyder, Marconi Plaza, and 18th and Catherine during day three. Mother Nature had just dumped rain all over us and the heatwave was starting to kick in. The dumpsters were full, the smell was awful, and the citizens of Philadelphia were getting restless. Who knew we’d have another week and change since trash won’t be picked up til Monday? It was nine days of hell:
Now listen, I know what some are calling me. They’re throwing around the word “hero.” Please just call me Kyle. I just helped a guy in need like all of you would have. I don’t do this for glory or praise or pats on the back. I do it for the good people of Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs who need a helping hand.
Have I seen a 3, 6, or 10 reporter do this? The next time would be the first. Until then I’ll just lead by example:
