You Never Know How Much a Random Person in a Philadelphia Park Has Affected Your Life

Another episode of Men At Work, and that means another park we’re chilling in. This time we’re with hilarious comedian Bo Johnson, who has a name that should be up on the Phanavision at CBP, but Canadian energy since he’s a product of the Pacific Northwest. He was awesome and we talked about amazing open mic stories, the Starbucks to Amazon pipeline through Seattle, and met someone I never thought I would ever meet who’s affected my life so much – the inventor of the Paper Dress. That’s why we do the show, folks! For stories like these. This guy was just sitting here in the park enjoying the taping until we convinced him to come on. I can’t believe how much this random dude in his motor scooter has been a part of mine, yours, and everyone else’s life reading this due to his invention. Next time you get a stiff breeze in the doctors office you’ll think of this old man (Paper Dress talk starts around 20:30):
Apparently the Paper Dress was all the rage back in the 60s. You mailed in a $1 and a paper dress appeared on your doorstep in a couple weeks. They did dresses and blazers for Campbell’s Soup, Domino Sugar, Pepsi, and even Budweiser. I don’t know how many readers we still have that would remember this thing, but if someone wants to email me about it I’m all ears.
