The Union sold Kai Wagner to Birmingham City in the English second division last week. He started on Sunday and bagged an assist within six minutes in a 3-2 win against league-leaders Coventry.

Action News reported on the transfer:

Burlington City F.C., not to be confused with Burlington County in South Jersey, Burlington, Vermont, or the Burlington Coat Factory, which is just “Burlington” now.

We are grateful to Action News for reporting on the U, because we’ll take anything we can get in terms of media coverage. It’s a tough world out there with cranky boomers always shitting on the beautiful game and the boys in blue. But this is a three-sentence, 15-second VO and they still mess it up. You can hear the anchor say “Birmingham,” so they got it right in the copy, but the lower third chyron was incorrect, and the final sentence makes no sense.

Channel 6 used to be the official partner of the Union, and they would get a 20-second mention here or there during the sports segment. That’s about it, though. No one really cared. I think sometimes they would mention Union gamedays during the weather.

There was also the famous moment in which captain Alejandro Bedoya was chyron’d as “Alejandro Pedroya,” no relation to Dustin:
