It’s Always Soccer in Philadelphia: Emergency Ray Gaddis Retirement Podcast

Shock news on Thursday for Union fans, who were informed that starting right back Ray Gaddis would be retiring ahead of the 2021 season.
It came as a huge surprise, considering the fact that the team just began preseason this week and will play its first-ever CONCACAF Champions League game in mid-April, just six weeks from now. Gaddis was the team’s longest-tenured player, a shoe-in starter dating back to 2016, and holds team records for total minutes and total games played.
On an emergency recording of the IASIP podcast, Kevin is re-joined by podcast co-founder Dave Zeitlin to talk about Gaddis’ career, his credentials for the Union Ring of Honor, and his non-linear path from college underdog to consummate professional.
Kevin has been writing about Philadelphia sports since 2009. He spent seven years in the CBS 3 sports department and started with the Union during the team's 2010 inaugural season. He went to the academic powerhouses of Boyertown High School and West Virginia University. email - k.kinkead@sportradar.com
