It’s Always Soccer in Philadelphia – “We’re Coming in for a Landing!”

Did you know that Sixers play-by-play announcer Marc Zumoff is a soccer fan?
Zoo is a day-one Union supporter and his Philly fandom dates all the way back to the Spartans, Atoms, and Fury, teams that existed in the late sixties and through the 1970s. Marc also got his broadcasting start with the MISL’s Philadelphia Fever, who played at the Spectrum until 1982, and has called a handful of Union games over the years.
On this episode of It’s Always Soccer in Philadelphia, Zumoff talks about the early days of Philadelphia soccer, discusses the Union’s place in a “four for four” sports town, and shares the story of calling an indoor game alongside makeshift color commentator Harry Kalas.
Kevin has been writing about Philadelphia sports since 2009. He spent seven years in the CBS 3 sports department and started with the Union during the team's 2010 inaugural season. He went to the academic powerhouses of Boyertown High School and West Virginia University. email - k.kinkead@sportradar.com
