Who Told Bradley Carnell that it’s “Philly Culture” to Leave Games Early?

Thought this was an odd quote after the Union won on Saturday night to extend their unbeaten run to 12 games:
“It’s pretty emotional for my staff and for me personally. I think in the first three games when we were here at Subaru Park, 82 minutes in, the fans were leaving despite us winning. I was told it’s the Philly culture, right? It’s just the way it is. To see all the fans staying tonight was massive. To see them rallying late in the game gives me goosebumps. So, this is amazing. If we can collectively make this place a really tough place for teams to come and play, yeah, it makes me feel like we’re all in this together.”
It’s not “Philly culture” to leave games early, it’s just that the parking and traffic situation totally sucks. Subaru Park might not be as bad as the sports complex, which makes you want to rip out your steering wheel and bash someone over the head with it, but it’s pretty rough. I’d assume that these fans are departing in the 82nd because they don’t want to sit in the parking lots for 45 minutes. At least that’s how long it took me the last time I went down, but I was an asshole and parked in the back corner of Lot C, thinking I could sneak out Highland Avenue. Boy was I wrong!
But yeah, this is not unique to Philly. You get this in most big cities where the traffic blows. It is what it is, but it doesn’t have to be, as explained in this award-winning column:
