Jay Wright Dropped a Retirement Hint Weeks Ago

The Maestro is still working on the Jay Wright shock retirement day-after post. Not sure if it’ll be done today or what, but we requested that he come out of his own writing retirement to pen the tribute.
Meantime, check this out. Wright hinted at his retirement back on April 2nd:
“Hoops is in the house. I get to say it one last time.”
Damn.
Jay Wright low-key hinted to everyone at the Final Four that this was his final season. What a sneaky Easter Egg this was after losing to Kansas. Wow.

Crazy. Great pickup by college basketball Reddit. You can see that Jay looks/sounds somewhat emotional there. I guess nobody thought anything of it at the time because “I get to say it one last time” could be interpreted as the “last time” this season. That’s why the quote probably slid without any second guessing.
Props to Jay Wright for going out on top. No farewell tour. No “look at me” fancy shit. Just walking away from the game at age 60. Good for him.
