Villanova Seemingly Allergic to Normal Endings Since Joining Patriot League

After two weeks of college football, it’s the Villanova Wildcats who have played to a couple of totally whack endings.
Following an incredible Week 0 choke on home turf, they snuck by Bucknell in Week 1 with a blocked chip shot field goal:
They would go on to move the chains on the ensuing drive and then kill the clock, winning 17-16 to claim their first Patriot League win. They’re 1-1 but could very easily be 0-2 or 2-0. It’s been a goofy start for them.
Going through the box score and perusing some highlights, it appears as though this was a very dumb game. Nova took a 14-0 lead into halftime after Bucknell went punt/punt/punt/punt/downs to start. Then the Bison scored two touchdowns in the third quarter while Villanova had one possession of 1:31 that went three plays for -5 yards. Nova finally got the ball back in the fourth, put together a three-play, -4 yard drive, and then coughed up the lead on a Bucknell field goal. Nova responded with an eight-play drive to nick a field goal of their own, then got the block and the first down to ice it.
Patriot League football! You never know what’s going to happen.
Next up for Nova, by the way, is a Louisville team that took Ole Miss to the wire. The Cardinals are a -36.5 home favorite.
