WFAN Guy Jokes About 94 WIP Being “a Cut Below” His Station

As you know, Spike Eskin recently departed 94 WIP to take over as WFAN’s Program Director. He replaced the legendary Mark Chernoff, who was there forever. Almost three decades running that station.
They introduced Spike on the morning show earlier this week, which is hosted by Boomer Esiason and this guy named Gregg Giannotti. “Gio” got the gig in 2018 after Craig Carton was thrown in jail for securities and wire fraud. About halfway through the clip, Gio jokes about WIP being “a cut below” WFAN:

He’s just having fun. Just messing around… or is he? I’m not sure I’d trust Gio. He’s a New York guy and a Pittsburgh guy as well. He did a stint out there in Yinzerville where he had to talk about the Penguins and Steelers and I think the Pirates. He also did some Pitt Panther football gigs, which is highly suspect. New York + Pittsburgh is one of the most disgusting combinations of all time.
Gio should just be careful. Keep those ratings up, or else he’s gonna find himself doing hot takes in no time. Spike will drop the hammer on him. He’ll be listening to audio clips of Eliot Shorr-Parks with Spike saying, “I want you to be more like this guy.”
