I knew he’d fit right in, but we’ll still miss Wayne Simmonds.
As for the game, it was another Flyers win in their ugly Stadium Series uniforms as they defeated the Sabres 5-2. The team got out to a quick 2-0 start from goals by Oskar Lindblom and Jake Voracek before Jack Eichel got on the board. James van Riemsdyk, Travis Sanheim, and Claude Giroux (empty net) were the other Flyer goal scorers. Brian Elliott made 34 saves on 36 shots.
With the win, the Flyers leapfrogged Buffalo for fourth in the wild card standings. But they’re still seven points behind Pittsburgh for the second wild card spot. Still a hill to climb.
Up next is a big division meeting in Columbus when the Flyers take on the Blue Jackets. Currently, Columbus is a point out of the second wild card spot.
Circling back to Simmonds, he might come back after this season?

Not a good day on the Harper watch in terms of rumors. If the Dodgers offered the same contract as the Phillies did, there’s a good chance Harper goes to the Dodgers to be closer to home. And the Nolan Arenado contract extension with the Rockies didn’t help.
And that’s it. Continue with rumors. I doubt anything gets done this week.
Monday night’s 111-110 Sixers win over the Pelicans ended in pure disaster. Boban Marjanovic went down bad late in the game, but a Serbian report said he wasn’t seriously hurt. The Sixers later sent a press release stating Boban would miss 5-7 days.
However, Joel Embiid won’t play tomorrow night against the Thunder. He could return Saturday against Golden State.
