In a move that will come as a surprise to some, the Flyers opted to re-sign goaltender Brian Elliott, not Cam Talbot, to a 1-year/$2 million deal.

If you’ve followed the team over the past few years, you’ll know that the Flyers have had unprecedented issues with goaltender health, including last season’s fiasco in which they played an NHL-record EIGHT different goalies. Elliott played in 26 games, including 23 starts, for the Flyers in 2018-19, with a 2.96 GAA and a .907 save percentage. Overall, he’s played in 69 games, including 65 starts, for the Orange & Black, with a 2.77 GAA and .908 save percentage. The question moving forward is whether or not he’ll be able to stay healthy as the backup to Carter Hart.
