Press release from the Flyers:
Flyers defenseman Kimmo Timonen has been diagnosed with blood clots in his lower right leg and in both lungs. Kimmo is currently being treated for this disorder back in his home country of Finland. His return to play is yet to be determined.
That’s scary stuff, and it’s an oddly timely ailment, too. The death of American Idol contestant Michael Johns has been in the news recently. He died allegedly as a result of a blood clot in his ankle.
We’ll keep you updated.
UPDATE: Ron Hextall told reporters that the Flyers view this as a long-term situation and that Kimmo’s not allowed to travel for 2-3 weeks. This really is unfortunate.
