Morning Notes: The Phillies Lost 14-5 and Jeff Carter Scored a Hat Trick

I’m not sure what we’ve done to deserve this, but I’m sort of numb to the [local team got its ass kicked], [former player had rousing success elsewhere] sort of mornings. The sports world hates us right now and we have no other choice but to submit to its will. Do with me what you will, sports world:
Phillies
They lost to the Marlins, 14-5, and Kyle Kendrick is back to being terrible:
The loss dropped Kendrick to 0-10 with a 5.11 ERA in 16 starts since Aug. 11, 2013. It is the longest losing streak for a Phillies pitcher since Matt Beech lost 11 straight decisions in a 22-start stretch from Aug. 13, 1996, to Aug. 2, 1997.
Awesome, man. But the bullpen was actually worse:
Hollands, Manship and Garcia. These will be the sorts of names you recall 10 years from now and laugh, not unlike Ron Blazier, Jerry Spradlin and Amaury Telemaco.
Jeff Carter
HE SUCKS IN THE PLAYOFFS. After his hat trick in the third period last night, he’s got 16 points in 16 games for the Kings, who are now tied 1-1 with the Blackhawks in the Western Conference Finals.

His four third period points last night were a team record in the playoffs.
Oh, and good morning.
