From Pro Football Talk:

Jerry Rice was watching as the 49ers lost 21-10 to the Packers on Friday night, and Rice didn’t like what he saw. It’s hard to blame him, as the 49ers’ four quarterbacks combined for just 61 passing yards.

So Rice went on Twitter and wrote, “I’m watching Niners vs Packers and hate the Read Option Offense. Can we bring back old football?

“I’m not bashing the Niners,” Rice continued. “It throws the timing off. No rhythm. Great players need chemistry and timing!”

Haha. San Francisco is the perfect place for Chip Kelly. His progressive, newfangled ways will be embraced there more than in any other city. But, there will always be the old school detractors who (perhaps rightly) think Kelly is bastardizing the game they love. Jerry Rice is the first.

And this is before Chip Kelly cuts the guy who took a stand against race issues, just three years after not cutting Riley Cooper.

Side note: Does anyone else think Kaep, knowing that Kelly is on thin ice with regard to race issues, decided to take a stand now because he knows that, should Kelly cut him, it’s gonna look like a reaction to all of this? Way to hijack the situation. You can’t pay PR people enough for that sort of scheming.
