Last night’s Sixers win against the Knicks was a coming out game for Justin Anderson. The recent addition put up 19 points on 8-12 shooting, to go with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. But if was someone else who jumped out even more on the box score because he doesn’t play for the Sixers: Sofoklis Schortsanitis. Say it out loud, it’s fun.

While the name Sofoklis Schortsanitis may look like the alphabet sneezed, he’s a real dude. A Greek-Cameroonian, 6’10”, three hundred and forty-five pound dude.

Schortsanitis – known as “Big Sofo” or “Baby Shaq” – last played for Apollon Patras in Greece but ruptured his Achilles in December. The box score gave him the stats (four minutes, one rebound, one turnover) of 10-day signee Justin Harper. Why? Who knows. As Marca said, “according to the statistics table, attendees at the Wells Fargo Center lived a unique event, the debut of Sofoklis Schortsanitis in the NBA.” It’s a rough translation. Krepsinis continues:

Eyes on the forehead was able to jump out of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the fans saw that the Philadelphia 76ers last night made its debut in the ranks Sofoklis Schortsanitis . 99-th number is printed on a T-shirt and a forward playing for Greek 5 minutes he grabbed the ball, wrong and missed a colon.

Again, very rough translation. Oh, and I guess pay no attention to Gerald Henderson’s “DNP-Hip Surgery,” it’s just sore…for now.
