Adidas unveiled their new hockey jerseys last night, and proving that when the same parent company wins the bid to redo its own product, little will change. Looks familiar!

The same thing happened when Nike unveiled their NFL jerseys a few years ago and only really the Seahawks uniforms changed. Never mind the fact that it took Nike over a year to figure out how to produce Midnight Green.

I get why teams are resistant to change, but why can’t American sports teams switch up jerseys every year like European soccer teams do? It would create more buzz and sell product. You can still keep a classic look, too. Manchester United and Real Madrid still maintain their aesthetic despite switching it up every year. I don’t see why the same thing wouldn’t work in American sports. Maybe once jersey sponsorships become more prevalent we’ll see more creativity and experimentation in this regard. Either way, all we have here is a light collar change and not much else. Cool.
