Rumor: Sixers Contact Doug Collins
PhillyBurbs.com is reporting that:
Ed Stefanski has apparently started the ball rolling toward finding the next Sixers' coach.
An NBA source confirmed Wednesday that Stefanski, the Sixers' president, has contacted John Langel, the agent for Doug Collins, to try to schedule an interview.
Langel declined comment via e-mail.
Collins, a former Sixer, wasn’t granted an interview last May when Stefanski hired Eddie Jordan, who he fired 13 days ago after a 27-55 season.
Collins, a former Sixer, hasn't coached since 2003 and currently is an NBA analyst for TNT and hasn't exactly shown a giant amount of interest in returning to Coaching, but has been listening to offers for the last few years. I think he would be a better solution than Larry Brown as he would bring a much needed attitude to the team, and hopefully stick around long enough to get them deep into the playoffs. Collins has also drawn interest from the New Orleans Hornets, who have already expressed that they would pay top dollar to hire a high profile coach.
Dear Ed Snider,
Don't step in please… let this happen and get Doug Collins, don't settle for Larry Brown.
Thanks,
Michael, on behalf of Sixers fans everywhere.
