Report: This is the Flyers Winter Classic Jersey

Winter_classic_jerseys
Wow. Our friends at Philly Sports Daily have been told, by multiple sources, that the above concept drawn by DC Visual Arts is, in fact, the actual Flyers Winter Classic jersey.

Predictably, those of you who purchased Tony The Tiger fucks the Hamburglar sweaters are out of luck.

Dave Isaac, Flyers beat reporter for PSD, has the full story, which cites several sources that are all in agreement on these being the actual Winter Classic jerseys to be produced by Reebok.

About a month ago, these jerseys were posted on an unofficial Winter Classic Facebook page, the same one that first posted the game’s logo

The source did not say whether the Rangers jersey shown above is real or not, but it would be a pretty safe bet to assume that is the case.

We’ll have a full uniform breakdown from our uni expert, Dan Fuller, but what are your thoughts? I like the general appearance and use of the orange-cream colored accents. However, they are – at least in the drawing – a bit plain.

  1. I’m a fan. It’s hard as the Flyers don’t have a “throwback” per se, yet these look “traditional. They should have added the laces up top.

  2. Another boring Flyers jersey. It must take these geniuses 5 minutes to design Flyers jerseys, just slap the logo right in the middle and change the colors around every couple years. I actually liked the fake ones because at least it was something different for once. Can we at least get the sweater tie ups like the Rangers ones have? Come on.

  3. Why is Giroux’s Jersey have the “A”? do they know even more than what they’re telling us? Is Briere or Kimmo getting traded (despite their NMCs) prior to the Winter Classic?

  4. Much better than the bootleg ones, I thought those were hideous. Like someone else said, the Flyers don’t exactly have throwbacks since they’re skating in jerseys very similar to what they wore back in the 60s.

  5. Im calling BS for now, no reebok logo/word mark on the flyers jersey. And as someone stated giroux idoesnt don the A, but that might be just to show what it’d look like, but why just not use Briere or Pronger for that matter,
I could definetly see them being this, but there are too many mistakes, and it seems low quality anyway, for me to believe it as made by/for reebok.

  6. I want a black jersey, orange numbers, with a white flying P in the middle. I also don’t want the nameplate to be a different color. Keep the nameplate black with orange lettering. Traditional stripes. That shit would be straight fire son.

  7. Go read the article on PhillSportsDaily. It states that the concept was actually created a few months ago prior to the C and A’s being announced. Could have been just wishful thinking on the person’s part. Haha
I would love the laces too, but those are usually reserved for the Original 6 sweaters, not typically the expansion teams. Not saying they couldn’t do it, just saying that might be why it’s not there.

  8. Flyersgirl38 – you’re generally right about the laces; however, the Pens had laces on they’re 2011 WC Jerseys so they have already set a precedent that they’re willing to do it.

  9. @flyersgirl38, actually Buffalo, Calgary, Colorado, Columbus, Minnesota, NYI, Pittsburgh, San Jose, Tampa Bay, and Winnipeg all have the laces on atleast one of their jerseys.

  10. (repeat https://www.crossingbroad.com/2011/10/winter-classic-ticket-pricing-is-interesting.html#comment-6a0120a6dde087970b014e8c52f9ff970d )
Nobody can confirm or deny what the jerseys will be until they actually come up (through the dugouts) with whatever they’re wearing. I’d be perfectly happy with 1974 editions of the jerseys. Hey, to make it a true “classic” why not also limit both teams to materials and equipment to match the era of the jerseys they’re wearing. All wooden sticks (actually, wood is technickly a composite), real leather skates with all metal blade holders (I still have a pair like those), leather padding stuffed with that thick woolen felt, etc. Even old skool jockcups and the garter belts for the socks and suspenders for the breezers. That’ll make their playing a real classic heheheh.

  11. Ha! Great call about the missionary position. Yeah, I like em but I would like to see a little design… something a little different. Then again, different can really be awful sometimes. So whatever. But overall, these are cool.
And yeah… please add the laces!!

  12. I like them too but also agree with the requests for laces.
If that is the Rangers sweater I’ll be curious to see how it looks on tv. Something about that cream color plus the outdoor lighting on the rink makes me think it might look somewhat yellow, like old pit stains.

  13. Either way, rangers are gonna get in that ass. Doesn’t matter if we go shirtless at this point. Hope you tigers are eating your frosted flakes! The flyers are gggggggggggggggggreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat!
ps, how did richards d*ck taste on saturday night philthadelphia?

  15. “We’ll have a full uniform breakdown from our uni expert, Dan Fuller” can we please petition to stop this asshat from boring us with retarded “unidictions”??? please? pretty please????

  16. I will say that blogging made me realize that I wasn’t interested in people who judged me or made me feel bad for being who I am. It’s a huge relief getting rid of those people. Like you said, the awesome team is who you want around you.
