D.C. Mayor Proclaims May 4-6 "Natitude Weekend" in the Nation's Capital
Heh.
What does a desperate city and fan base do to TAKE BACK THEIR OWN PARK (!!!)?
Everything they can.
They offer free tickets. Give unused seats to military members. And, it seems, take that presumably owed reach-around from the local mayor by having him proclaim the most ridiculous of things.
Mayor Molestache’s photo just reeks of douchey politico who would issue a proclamation for something as lame as Natitude Weekend. Text enlarged, it reads:
The last line is perfect: “join me in celebrating the return of Major League Baseball to our nation’s capital.”
That Nationals (Expos) moved to Washington in 2005.
Something tells me this is going to backfire horribly on the Nats. In fact, as pointed out by Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post, Nats COO Andrew Feffer admitted in a Wall Street Journal article (in which yours truly was quoted) that having Phillies fans, well, takeover on Sunday night would be hugely embarrassing:
The Sunday night game will be nationally televised, and Mr. Feffer acknowledges it would be a huge embarrassment if the crowd were dominated by Philadelphia supporters.
Yes it would be.
