The Eagles and Phillies Shared a Blue Chest Filled with Porn at Veterans Stadium

Screen Shot 2013-08-22 at 11.37.36 AMThis morning on the WIP Morning Show, Hollis Thomas, who may be the most carefree man you could ever meet, explained the blue chest of porn that lived in the bowels of Veterans Stadium. I’m not sure there can be anything less sexy than that last sentence.

Thomas:

“[The Phillies] did have an awesome… we used to share like the shower and rest room area at the Vet, and they had an awesome collection of porn. They did, it was just like a bunch of books in there. It was just in a chest. When I first got there I was like, ‘What is this?’ They was like, ‘This is reading material’. I was like, ‘Reading material?’”

“Everybody knows about the blue chest. It was an array, a pretty good array of magazines. You actually had a variety too. It was almost like a newsstand, put it that way. Actually, yeah, it was the precursor to the internet. You just picked up one, and there was a little sign that said when you’re done with the book, put it back. I did get a couple of books where the pages were stuck together.”

I’m sorry, this book has been flagged.

  1. The legendary Blue Chest. Thing of myth; thing of beauty. Could such a thing be real?

On a quiet evening, after a typical 11-2 loss by the Phillies to the Montreal Expos, I heard it whispering my name.

    It was real.

And after that night, it’s contents had gained an important addition. A collection of interracial homoerotic poems, with titles such as “My Black Dad Never Hugged My White Ass”.

Who penned these masterpieces? What tortured soul of a journalist had these dark, secret feelings inside?

    Maybe we’ll never know.

But Chase Utley is the white devil, and Jimmy Rollins is going to the HOF.

    1. Nice poem, skip. Call my show in a hour, bro. You and I will solve all of racism in America during a half our segment.

      1. I haven’t been able to listen to mike miss since his holy than thou take on Riley Cooper.
His voice makes me sick anymore. I’m stuck with the cuz & macburger now

  2. He’s a douche. Heard his radio show on a Saturday. Anyway, a caller asked him what was worse, the Riley Cooper comment or Michael Vick killing dogs. He had to the nerve to say the Riley Cooper comment.

Vick killed a ton of dogs. A murderer of a beautiful animal…and making money. Somehow though, a comment hurts him more than Vicks’ actions.

    1. Of course it hurt it more, you “tard”. They were DOGS! Name one person that was hurt by the torturing of dogs. I’m not defending Mike’s actions. I love dogs, but dogs are not people.

  3. My old Eagles source told me that one of the Cheerleaders doors had a 1′ or 2′ inch gap at the bottom….he said that the laundry room was next to theirs….he would open the door to the laundry room and catch players….Eagles and visiting players….laying flat on the floor using pieces of mirror to get a better view…..

ps Shen, i’m glad dogs arent people. Dogs love you no matter what. People lie cheat and steal. nice redeeming qualities.

    1. AL,
…cute sentiment, but irrelevant. I love dogs and I’m glad they love me back.

The point was that it’s not too far-fetched a concept to be more hurt by someone putting down an entire race of people, than by a man killing animals.

      1. I’m with AL on this one.
Calling someone a vile and hurtful name does not equate to systematically torturing and killing a highly advanced species like a dog.

        1. I appreciate your opinions, Al and Junkhead. As great as dogs are (and they really are remarkable creatures), I just don’t think you can compare the value of a human to that of an animal. I think that was what prompted the Hollis’s remarks about which one was worse. Hollis was offended that his race was put down, and clearly shares my opinion on the value of humans over animals.

          Good discussion, though.

          1. Shen, thanks for the civil discussion. Disagreements don’t always end up that way on the Internet. You’re a class act.

  4. Hollis Thomas is a big racist, well he is a big everything. He also is a pig which is why he fits so well on the morning show. When Jonesy is not on I immediately turn it off. The regular crew is hard enough but when you add Thomas and that preppy douchebag Ben Davis it is sheer torture. Really miss Ricky Bo and Hugh Douglas.
