The Mets Were Reportedly Interested in Taking Jimmy Rollins off the Phillies’ Hands

Of course it’s the Mets.

Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports the Mets had interest in Jimmy Rollins, who, unfortunately (but commendably), didn’t have interest in them:

Now this would have made an interesting pairing: The Mets, in need of a shortstop, spoke with the Philadelphia Phillies about acquiring Jimmy Rollins (who has a full NTC) in a trade, sources told ESPNNewYork.com. The pursuit since has been dismissed because Rollins does not want to leave Philadelphia, a source added.

Good thing Ruben Amaro gave Rollins that $11 million vesting option for next year…
