For a while it was all over and we were just waiting for ink to meet paper. Now ink has met paper: DeMarco Murray has officially signed a five-year deal, worth a reported $42 million deal ($21 million guaranteed, $18 million of that for skill and injury). With Murray, the Eagles get the NFL’s leading rusher (and carrier) from last season, while taking him from division rival the Dallas Cowboys and “trader” haters.

As we mentioned earlier, Murray’s 449 touches last season was the sixth most all-time, and of the four recent backs in front of him – Larry Johnson, Eddie George, LaDanian Tomlinson and Edgerrin James – only LaDanian Tomlinson didn’t have a down year (or injury) the year after. Murray is 27 – a couple of months older then the guy he’s replacing, LeSean McCoy – but he’s played two fewer seasons than McCoy and has 500 fewer carries over his career.
