According to reports, Chase Utley is likely to be traded today to either the Dodgers or the Angels, or stay a Phillie for the rest of the year. First brought up by Ken Rosenthal, today seems to be judgement day for Utley. The Dodgers and Angels were said to be front-runners – with Todd Zolecki saying the Dodgers are getting close and could send a “decent prospect” – and Jim Salisbury pointed out that Utley will sit out today’s game, but if he’s still a Phillie after today he’ll remain here for the rest of the season.

Should be a not at all stressful next eight and a half hours.

UPDATE: Utley is officially out of tonight’s lineup.

UPDATE 2: According to lil’ Rosie, the Dodgers and Phillies are talking about swapping Utley for two minor leaguers, with “LAD assuming ~$2M of Utley’s remaining ~$6M obligation.”

UPDATE 3: Deal not signed but agreed to, according to Heyman. Rosenthal’s details above are accurate.

UPDATE 4: With nothing yet official, Utley took the field in uniform for warmups.
