Usually when you think of an “athlete,” you think of someone small-ish, quick, agile, fast, etc. You don’t usually pick out the guy who is 300+ pounds. But ESPN’s Phil Sheridan, when asking who was the best athlete on the Eagles, had some players drop an unexpected name: Jason Peters.

You could make an argument for cornerback Nolan Carroll as the best pure athlete on the Eagles. Carroll won the starting corner job after impressing coaches by winning all of the offseason competitions — running, in the weight room, you name it. But a couple of players made a strong case for left tackle Jason Peters. He might not win a foot race, but the 6-foot-4, 328-pound Peters is freakishly athletic, thanks to his strength, agility and quickness. There’s a reason he was able to become a Pro Bowl tackle after coming into the league as an undrafted tight end and commands so much respect from his teammates.

Peters is one of the most athletic linemen in football, and on sheer freak-of-nature status it’s worth noting he ran a 4.93 second 40-yard-dash at 328 pounds, which I’m not sure I could top at 180 pounds right now.
