Two Adam Gase reports last night and this morning. One is from Jason La Canfora, oh he of the front office shit-slinging realm. And the other is from former WIP-er Darren DeGaetano, on WIP.

La Canfora

Interesting, Jason. Did you follow up with Gase’s agent after he texted that, or did you just tweet it anyway?

La Canfora isn’t exactly batting 1.000 of late. His last two Eagles reports were that Chip Kelly was going to stay because Jeffrey Lurie wasn’t ready to move on (December 6), and that Kelly was fired in part because of some silly holiday party thing (January 3), a claim that was apparently mostly bullshit.

Additionally, this is something neither team – Eagles or Dolphins – would want out there, so that leaves someone in Gase’s camp, perhaps trying to create urgency to hire their client…. something that would be wholly unnecessary if:

DeGaetano

Darren DeGaetano, a former WIP-er who now runs a football site and has a habit of ejecting less-than-truths, tweeted that the Eagles have already offered Gase, a report he already began to walk back when he talked to Angelo Cataldi and the morning team on WIP this morning:

DeGaetano: I think that he is discussing it with some family members, and I think the Eagles are equally discussing it as him becoming a family member of theirs. I think that initially it went very well from what I’m told, they are bringing him back on Saturday – I think that’s a little bit more of a formality than it sounds – and I think that you’ll have a new head coach by Saturday evening.

Cataldi: And it’ll be Adam Gase.

DeGaetano: That’s what I believe, yes.

I think. I think.

The Delco Times has already run with that report sight unseen:

This of course isn’t the first time DeGaetano has put something out there that… well, may have been light on sources.

OK, fine, maybe that was one of Chip’s threats last year during a power struggle with Roseman which the Chipper ultimately won. But, still, light on details and hard to disprove– the kind of shit-slinging which always protects the slinger.

DeSean was cut a month later.

Someone forgot to tell Kiko, who played in the Eagles’ final nine games of the season, unfortunately.

The “report” on Gase is one that might never be disproven, because if Gase, the apparent frontrunner, does get the job, DeGaetano can claim he was right all along. But I call bullshit, on DeGaetano’s and La Canfora’s reports.

UPDATE: Can always count on it (Miami reporter):

UPDATE 2: Apparently the Eagles don’t even have a second interview with Gase scheduled yet.
