Yo, Carl Nassib Says the Browns Plan to Take Advantage of Carson Wentz's Slow Release
Oh no, it seems I’m faced with a conundrum! Typically, when an opposing team’s rookie defensive end – a third round pick, no less – shit talks the Eagles’ starting quarterback and calls his release “slow,” I reflexively call him a douchebag and otherwise maim him with my bulky finger muscles, especially on the heels of the team’s GM saying that quarterback wasn’t a top 20 pick. But, Carl Nassib is from West Chester and went to Malvern Prep, my alma mater, which means I reflexively profess my man crush on him and fawn over a guy who walked on at Penn State and played himself into an NFL draft pick.
What to do here about yet another Brown providing bulletin board material for Carson City?
On Thursday, Browns rookie defensive end Carl Nassib told reporters that he’d watched all of Wentz’s snaps from the preseason and noted that Wentz’s release wasn’t quite fast enough.
“He can run, he has good mobility, and he’s got a good arm,” said Nassib, via Cleveland.com. “His release is a little slow, so we plan to take advantage of that.
“I think they’re going to keep things basic for him, but I’m just going to go out there and play as fast as I can and pressure him as much as I can, make him uncomfortable.”
…
“He’s a dual threat, but I heard he’s a little banged up right now, so I doubt he’ll be running the ball very much,” Nassib added.
Oh my God. I can’t wait for the first play where Wentz gets around Nassib on the end and then slings a deep ball to Nelson Agholor… who drops the sure-fire touchdown.
