First Gudel, now Parveen. DON’T LET CECILY BE NEXT!

There’s a 97.5 “OH NO!” drop in here somewhere.

Sheena just posted on Facebook:

Hey Everyone!

It’s bittersweet to say that I have some news for you. . .
I have accepted a meteorologist position at our sister station WRC-TV NBC4 in Washington, D.C. I’m excited about this new opportunity and am delighted that I will remain in the NBCUniversal family! However, at the same time I am sad to leave the Philadelphia area and our passionate and loyal viewers. I have enjoyed forecasting the weather here for almost 5 years, and helping to keep our viewers (you) safe. I will miss working with our amazing NBC10 First Alert Weather Team as they continue to keep you safe during times of severe weather.

But I won’t be gone for a while! You’ll still be able to see me on NBC10 in Philadelphia for a couple more months. In the meantime, I wanted to share this news with you and let you know how much I’ve appreciated all the support I’ve received from this great town! Thank you all.

I imagine Glen Hurricane Schwartz, who will at least temporarily regain his number position on NBC 10 weather billboards, will be happy.

Parveen started a hot girl arms race of sorts among local news broadcasts, including Jessica Boyington (NBC 10 and CB household favorite), Kacie McDonnell (FOX 29, several athletes) and Meisha Johnson (CBS 3), among many other young women who skyrocketed from remotes into well-lit studios in tight dresses with sheening decollete. She was a pioneer of sorts, the first in a long line of competent, full-frame news presenters hired by local news outlets which realized their one differentiating factor in this online world could be the quality of their talent. NBC was shameless in its promotion of Parveen from Day 1, but to her credit, Parveen was quite good on-camera and able to justify her prime time use.

Side note: Brief informal poll amongst my wife and I concludes that Boyington should be promoted to weather. She’s terrific.
