I’m not feeling any better about the loss. Just a brutal effort all around.

The Eagles beat the Vikings next week.

Let’s hit it!

Bird droppings

I’ve never seen this happen before, but let me offer a theory that Wentz is so GD strong that this is what it takes to bring him down:

DeSean Jaccson was punking it up early:

Would it kill Jordan Matthews to keep his feet inbounds on a play like this? I know it would’ve been a great play if he had, but come on man, just once earn that number one spot:

The loss wasn’t Carson Wentz’s fault – he was under pressure all day and wasn’t on the field for a full quarter – but this was by far his worst game thus far. Look at a couple of these passes early on– he missed open receivers on at least three occasions:

And his taking sacks late were classic rookie mistakes. No big deal, but I stand by the opinion that he did not play well despite this incredible play that was negated by a dumb illegal blocking call:

DGB, seen here with the YAC, played well and at times looked like the Eagles’ best receiver, which is akin to being the least contagious in leper colony.

Hey remember that Avoid 95 At All Costs sign? Now, opposing teams not only don’t avoid it, but they also make it their exclusive expressway to first down town and touchdown city and other assorted bad puns. Here’s Mychal Kendricks making a “tackle”:

Nope! And here’s a great play in the backfield that wasn’t actually a tackle:

I will never understand why any running back or wide receiver would have long hair in the NFL:

I will never understand the NFL. You have Vernon Davis flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for throwing the ball through the uprights, and Odell Beckham gets flagged against the Ravens for removing his helmet after a touchdown, but meanwhile Beckham doesn’t get a flag for doing a full-on Spiderman celebration across the width of the end zone. Whatever, Davis’ penalty was applied on the kickoff, allowing Wendell Largecock to take it to the house:

Not long after, Malcom Jenkins landed a pick six:

That led to the best Tweet of the day– a shot at the NFL’s new social media policy:

And the runner-up:

And this was good, too:

Stats:

Hey so what happened to that super organized and professional team that came roaring out of the gates? The regression was expected, but the sudden lack of discipline and mistakes were not.

The roundup:

Welcome to Miami:

Luke Winn explores how the NCAA is truly leading the three-point revolution:

As the Warriors dominated all basketball discussion last season and were hailed as revolutionaries, they took 36.2% of their shots from long-range—the second-highest three-point rate in the NBA, behind the Rockets—and the league as a whole had an alltime high three-point rate of 28.5%. Meanwhile, in college, the national three-point rate hit an alltime high of 35.4%, and three of the four Final Four teams (Villanova, Oklahoma and Syracuse) took more than 40% of their shots on the season from deep. College, with its smaller arc, zone defenses and wider distribution of talent, is naturally a more three-point-conducive environment—and one that may experience a few more seasons of three-point-rate increases before it plateaus and gives the NBA a chance to catch up.

Remember when everyone said Villanova wouldn’t win shooting so many three-pointers? Shoot ’em, sleep in the streets.

Some evidence that there is other life out there.

The Bucks traded MCW to the Bulls for Tony Snell. MCW now becomes the first NBA player to play with both Grant brothers (Jerami and Jerian) and is now with his third team in four years. I’d much rather have that Lakers pick than MCW or Snell.
