Brian Windhorst was on 97.5 today, and he said pretty much the exact same thing that I wrote yesterday for which a bunch of a-holes are calling me an idiot:

“I think it’s in play. I think the Sixers are interested. I think it would take pretty much a max level contract. I don’t know how Bryan Colangelo feels about paying a 31-year-old a max level contract, but they have also declared that Ben Simmons is going to be their guy. That could be a marriage where you could bring Ben along with Kyle, and then by the time Kyle is ready to transition to a more backup role maybe Ben could be ready. Or maybe they want to go with Ben right away. That’s thing that they haven’t made public yet and I understand why they haven’t.”

“The important thing to realize from the Sixers’ perspective is what he would bring beyond his statistics. I remember very well, probably six or so years ago, when David West left the New Orleans Hornets at the time and signed a two-year contract with the Pacers, and it was one of the greatest moves they ever made. Because even though his numbers were not the same as when he was an All-Star in New Orleans, his ability to be a leader and to set an example for what at that time was a young team was immeasurable almost from Day 1 they felt he made a major difference. He ended up being a huge part of a 60-win team. And that’s what the benefit of a guy like Kyle Lowry would be, because I feel like bringing him in to the Sixers would bring a level of professionalism, and I feel like Colangelo has wanted that type of player. That’s why he signed Gerald Henderson, that’s why he tried to make a play fo a bunch of veterans last year. So there is a compatibility there. Let’s say he were to come to Philly, it wouldn’t just be about how many points and assists he would average. It would be what he would bring in that regard as well. So that’s all part of it, he’s got a lot of big decisions, but I’ve got to think that he and the Sixers would have some interest in each other somewhere along that board.”

Now, compare that to what I wrote yesterday and tell me if you still think I’m a moron.

Side note: The Ringer put together five potential destinations for Lowry, and Philly wasn’t one of them.
