I am going to write a post exclusively about Ben Simmons’ throwdown dunk to seal a win over the hapless Hawks, who hung on longer than they should have.
Let’s view the dunk from multiple angles and with what I have determined is the appropriate commentary for said in-flight photo op:

That dunk was angry. It hurt people. Not physically. Mentally. Not even the Hawks (they suck), but the rest of the Eastern Conference. Their notice was served. Simmons, for the second time in the game, changed hands mid-air and finished in the paint (the first time on an impressive layup).
Let’s look at the stat lines, because they resemble the wild concoctions that John Nash would’ve scribbled on the back of a napkin while his peers were regaling in the debauchery of their youth.
Ben Simmons: 19 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals and a partridge taking a sweet elbow jumper.
Joel Embiid: 21 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, 3 blocks and a career-high in minutes played.
But let’s talk more about Simmons, who ended human lives last night.
He’s averaging more than 18, 7 and 9 per game. He’s the second player ever, along with Oscar Robertson, to begin his career with at least eight straight games of 10, 5 and 5 and to put up 100 points, 50 rebounds and 40 assists in his first six games. He’s number two in the NBA in points in the paint (Giannis leads by a wide margin), ahead of LeBron James and Karl-Anthony Towns. Ben Simmons is a point guard.
For all those bullshit fears about his intensity, Simmons plays like A MAN, like LeBron. He’s already clearly a team leader who seems about as determined to win as anybody on the court. He carries himself like a pro. He’s the best player on most courts… already. And the one challenging him is Joel Embiid.
I know the Hawks are putrid and the Sixers should’ve never let them back in the game last night. They have to get out of their second quarter funks. But they finished strong, again. They are 4-4, but consider that they’ve held fourth quarter leads against the Wizards, Celtics and Rockets, which all turned into losses. They are literally a handful of possessions away from being 7-1, with an extremely difficult schedule. This is without Richaun Holmes and with the empty shell of Markelle Fultz. This is the best analogy:
@CrossingBroad Sixers right now are like first act of a superhero movie when they're trying to figure out how to control their superpowers

They are Peter Parker, just squirting webs everywhere. More of them are beginning to stick. If they get Fultz back and he even resembles the player the Sixers expected when they picked him, they are going to be damn good, this year.
Our Slack chat is a little raucous right now. I posited the idea that the Sixers, with a few breaks, could play in the ECF this year. We’re out ahead of our skis, for sure. But they already resemble a four seed. Fight me.
Let’s Wood!

Joel Embiid was so excited about that win that we had to bleep him during his postgame interview with @MSullivanFrench. 😂 pic.twitter.com/Wg1sL5bhEF

I told you Fultz would take a hit. But why has Simmons not been raised yet?

Apparently Bryan Colangelo moonlights as an assassin. But for real, he should spend his off-hours buying out Jahlil Okafor. What they’re doing to him is unfair. While Colangelo didn’t create this situation, he flat-out failed to get anything for Okafor, whose value is now non-existent. He’s not getting them anything in return. Let him move on.
Joshua Harris
This was my favorite moment of the game pic.twitter.com/2rdxbEP0E5

I would honestly pay just to watch Joshua Harris and Jeffrey Lurie high-five each other repeatedly and score who gets hit in the face more.
