He’ll be with the Sixers until February 3rd at the very least, which would take him through the entire west coast road trip, making him available for these games:

  • at Nuggets (tomorrow)
  • at Lakers (Tuesday)
  • at Warriors (Thursday)
  • at Kings (next Saturday)

The Sixers return home the following Sunday and play the Raptors on Tuesday, February 5th.

Per NBA rules, you can only offer a player two 10-day contracts, which means that Elton Brand will have to decide whether or not to sign Brewer for the rest of the season. The Sixers right now are at the 15-man roster limit, which includes the injured Zhaire Smith, Markelle Fultz, and Justin Patton. Shake Milton and Haywood Highsmith are on two-way contracts.

The trade deadline is February 7th, so that would certainly influence the decision to stick with Brewer if the Sixers are working on something behind the scenes. If they enter the buyout market, they’d also need to waive somebody to make room. Trevor Booker was that guy last season.

Brewer has 10 years of NBA experience, so he would hit the top-end of the veteran minimum scale, which means his earnings would be a prorated portion of $2.4 million dollars while his cap hit comes in at $1.5 million due to league reimbursement RE: veterans contracts.
