Just in time for college basketball’s major conference tournaments and the betting nirvana of March Madness, the new FanDuel Sportsbook at Valley Forge Casino is set to open for business early next week. The sportsbook will soft launch on Monday and Tuesday of next week from 2 p.m.-11 p.m. before its official grand opening on Wednesday.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place Wednesday, March 13 at 12 PM followed by a ceremonial first bet from Brent Celek, former Tight End from the World Champion Philadelphia Eagles.

The FanDuel Sportsbook at Valley Forge Casino Resort will feature 7 betting windows, 27 television screens and 2 sports tickers in 1,800 square feet of sports heaven.  They will take bets on all major U.S. sports including professional baseball, basketball, soccer, football, golf, boxing, motorsports and collegiate football and basketball.

That’s the latest update on PA sportsbooks, but what about the much-anticipated wait for the state to go live on mobile devices? Previous indications were that the state was aiming for mobile to go live right around the end of the fiscal year on June 30, but that timeline may get bumped up a bit, according to this nugget found in a Friday PennLive.com article:

Chief Marketing Officer Marc Oppenheimer confirmed Thursday Parx is working toward offering online sports betting ahead of the general igaming launch, and possibly as early as April. Parx was the only one of five companies that have already opened retail sports books that was willing to put any time frame on their online sports plans this week.
