The Phillies made more roster moves this afternoon as the team tries to navigate its way through a rash of injuries and a short bullpen. Here’s the rundown:

That’s quite a bit to digest, but let’s start with infielder Sean Rodriguez who will get the nod at shortstop and bat seventh tonight at Citi Field as the Phillies try to avoid a sweep by the Mets. Rodriguez was off to a good start at Lehigh Valley, slashing .267/.327/.622 in 45 at-bats. He is, however, only 3 for 22 lifetime with one extra-base hit off Mets starting pitcher Jason Vargas.

Enyel De Los Santos is also back with the team after a solid spring training and start to the season at Lehigh Valley. The 23-year-old right-hander was 2-0 with a 2.81 ERA, while striking out 24 batters in only 16 innings of work with the Iron Pigs. He will pitch out of the bullpen for now, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him get a crack in the rotation at some point this season. Theoretically, he would be ready to go if the Phillies decide to do something about this:

Anyway, Drew Anderson and Mitch Walding are headed back down, and left-handed reliever James Pazos, who was acquired along with Jean Segura and Juan Nicasio in the deal that sent J.P. Crawford and Carlos Santana to Seattle, has been designated for assignment. Initially, there was some thought that Pazos and his beautiful mustache could compete for a spot in the Phillies bullpen, but after a rough spring, plans have changed. Pazos struggled in seven appearances with the Iron Pigs this season, allowing 6.14 ERA and 15 batters to reach base in seven-plus innings of work.
