Another day, another injury blow for the Phillies.

Adam Haseley, who made his big league debut earlier this week in San Diego, is headed to the injured list with a hip flexor/groin injury. By my count, Haseley is the 14th Phillies player to head to the IL since the start of the regular season. They’ve played 63 games.

After logging his first major league hit on Wednesday afternoon, Haseley sat out the Phillies’ 4-2 win over the Reds last night. Now, it looks like he’s going to have to wait awhile for a crack at his second one. Haseley told reporters prior to Saturday’s game that he’s unsure how long the injury will sideline him.

Great. So now what?

It’s Nick Williams time (again), baby! Get pumped. He’s on today’s lineup card and will rejoin the team from Lehigh Valley, but is not in the starting lineup.

I like Williams, but to say he’s struggled with the Phillies this season is an understatement. He is hitting only .148 with a .437 OPS in 69 ABs (not nice). He does, however, have three hits over his last eight ABs with the Iron Pigs, including a double and triple. Maybe he’s heating up? Don’t know, I’m trying here. Either way, he will get another chance to shake his slow start.

Haseley’s injury will also likely re-open the door for Maikel Franco, who will start today. He has watched his playing time decrease lately with Scott Kingery getting increased reps at third base. Franco, he of seemingly nine lives, opened the season on fire, but has been, well, he’s been brutal for well over a month now. He’s slashing .185/.241/.304 with only three homers over his last 145 plate appearances dating back to April 20. Maybe he takes advantage of what feels like an unprecedented dose of bad luck with injuries for the Phillies. We’ll see.
