Keith Pompey with the #BreakingSixersNewsFlow:

Medina and Martin’s names were already removed from the Sixers’ front office directory. Medina was hired in 2017, just two years ago, while Martin had been with the team since 2015.

I don’t think you need a reminder of the ridiculous rollercoaster ride that the club has been on for several years now. You’ve got the Markelle Fultz “scapular imbalance” and “thoracic outlet syndrome” fiasco. Joel Embiid’s load management also tops the list while assorted other injuries and ailments were written about and discussed ad nauseam.

Of course, it’s impossible for us to know exactly how culpable the medical staff is in most of these situations. If Zhaire Smith fractures his foot and then you discover a previously unknown allergy, I guess it is what it is, right? If Embiid breaks his face and needs to wear a mask, it is what it is.

The problem, from my perspective, felt like a lack of consistent macro-level messaging from medical staff to front office and coaching staff, then down to the PR team, which made it seem like not everybody was on the same page within the organization. I don’t know if that makes sense, but I can’t think of a better way to explain it, it just felt like we were always talking about medical issues.

Obviously Embiid’s load management and knee issue was a huge problem heading into the playoffs. What exactly was the plan there?

We never got a clear message on the Fultz horse shit, with his agent saying one thing and Bryan Colangelo saying another. What exactly was the plan there?

Is Joel Embiid stuffing his face with four chicken sandwiches or not? What exactly is the plan with his diet? Elton Brand I thought was a little vague with that topic at exit interviews, though he’s still new to the job and this is his first full offseason with the team.

Again, medical stuff is always a slippery slope, the act of assigning blame when we really have no clue what happened behind the scenes. But with the nonstop issues that continued to pop up via sourced reports and/or press releases, plus the continuation of distracting headlines and general head scratching, that makes it seem to me like this was rather inevitable.
