The New York Post is reporting that Mark Sanchez is taking a new gig with ABC/ESPN, therefore bringing his NFL playing career to a close.

Writes Andrew Marchand:

Sources tell The Post the former Jets quarterback’s main job will be in ABC’s lead college football studio, where he will join Kevin Negandhi and Jon Vilma. Sanchez is replacing Mack Brown, who left to coach North Carolina.

Sanchez auditioned with Fox Sports, too, according to a source. Fox liked him, but didn’t really have a spot for him in its college studio or top games, making the decision easier for Sanchez.

Good for him. That’s a nice college football gig for the former USC Trojan and top-five overall draft pick.

Sanchez had his most success with the Jets in 2009 and 2010, seasons that featured back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances. He missed the 2013 season due to injury, then joined the Birds in 2014 and went on to play 13 games in two years for the team. He finished his Eagles tenure with 18 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, and a 64.4 completion percentage, then was traded in 2016 and had brief stints in Dallas and Washington to wrap up his career.

Of course, Sanchez will unfortunately be remembered most for the infamous “butt fumble,” so here it is, after the jump:
