MLB trade deadline today.

Looks like the Phils are making another move:

No official word, of course, on what the Phils are giving up, but Jim Salisbury says he does not believe a player is headed to Pittsburgh. Todd Zolecki says it’s international bonus money and a player to be named later.

Dickerson is a good veteran bat, a 30-year-old former All-Star with the Rays.

This season, he’s played 43 games for Pittsburgh, posting 40 hits, 25 RBI, and 4 home runs with these numbers, after the jump:

  • .931 OPS
  • .317 batting average
  • .376 on base percentage
  • .556 slugging

He’s a career .285 hitter with a .829 OPS, which is nice. And he’s hitting .328 this month with a .949 OPS, which means he’s very much in form at the moment. Apparently he’s been dealing with a groin injury, which is why he missed a chunk of time in the spring, but it seems as though he’s healthier as of late. Dickerson is owed about $3 million this season and then becomes a free agent.

Nice pickup, especially considering that two of the Phils’ opening day outfielders (McCutchen and Odubel) are done for the year. Jay Bruce is also on the shelf with the groin strain.
