Doug Pederson Explains Reason for Practice Schedule Changes

Bill Streicher - USA Today Sports

No practice for the Birds today, who are doing a walk through instead.

HEAD BALL COACH Doug Pederson explained why at his midweek press conference, which wrapped up a few minutes ago:

It’s just a couple of things. Number one, with the guys who are a little nicked up, who have a chance to play in this football game, I want them to get the rep in practice. Normally we go with a padded day. Two, we’ve got some young guys that might have to play, and they’re also servicing the defense or the offense, so this way it allows everybody to still practice and maintain their focus and get our work done that we need to get done today.

Doug also provided the following health updates on these guys:

  • Tim Jernigan (foot) – “gonna be a little bit longer”
  • Dallas Goedert, DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery – “more day-to-day, they’re doing well and we’ll have an update at the end of the week, right now that’s why we’re doing this type of a practice today

Pederson said Carson Wentz is fine and offered up a few more tidbits, which you can listen to after the jump:
