There’s a celebration of life taking place in Los Angeles right now, in memory of the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, who were killed in a helicopter crash about a month ago.

With the event in progress, we’re getting reports than Vanessa Bryant, Kobe’s widow, is suing the company that owned the chopper, which was flying in dense fog at the time of the tragedy.

Via the Associated Press:

LOS ANGELES — The widow of Kobe Bryant has sued the owner of the helicopter that crashed in fog and killed her husband and her 13-year-old daughter last month.

The wrongful death lawsuit filed by Vanessa Bryant in Los Angeles says the pilot was careless and negligent by flying in cloudy conditions on Jan. 26 and should have aborted the flight. Pilot Ara Zobayan was among the nine people killed in the crash.

Interestingly enough, Zobayan had a weather-related violation that dates back to 2015. Here’s USA Today using the LA Times for reference:

The pilot of a helicopter that crashed into a Southern California hillside, killing Kobe Bryant, himself and seven others, was reprimanded five years ago for flying without permission into airspace while he had reduced visibility, according to a Federal Aviation Administration enforcement record.

Ara Zobayan was counseled by an FAA investigator after he violated FAA rules by crossing into busy airspace near Los Angeles International Airport on May 11, 2015, according to the record, which was first reported Friday by the Los Angeles Times.

Sad situation all around, isn’t it?

Vanessa is speaking at the memorial right now:
