Happy Monday.

Looks like we’re picking up right where we left off on Friday, with another less-than-stellar piece of news coming from Sunday’s Eagles scrimmage at Lincoln Financial Field.

It goes something like this:

  1. Jalen Hurts takes first team reps because Carson Wentz is day-to-day with a soft tissue injury.
  2. Hurts, playing behind backups at left tackle and right guard, throws an interception.
  3. First round draft pick Jalen Reagor injures his shoulder trying to bring down Will Parks, who made the interception.

“B Back Soon,” tweeted Reagor, who is expected to miss three to four weeks, according to early reports. That would put him in line for perhaps a week three or four return, against the Bengals or Niners.

Tim McManus at ESPN, via a source, described the injury as a “small tear” to Reagor’s shoulder, while multiple folks are saying he does not need surgery.

Here’s what Geoff Mosher wrote at Inside the Birds:

An MRI on the left shoulder of rookie wide receiver Jalen Reagor revealed a slight tear in his labrum, sources told Inside The Birds, which is expected to sideline the 20th overall pick from April for about four weeks, which means Reagor will likely miss the Sept. 13 season opener against the Washington Football Team. The team is still awaiting results of a second opinion, a source added, but the initial word is that Reagor won’t need surgery.

If you’re keeping track, we’ve now got Reagor and Alshon Jeffery unavailable to play in the season opener, which is 13 days away. DeSean Jackson is indeed healthy, but you’d think that Greg Ward will play the slot, with JJAW and/or John Hightower playing the other wide role.

Not sure about you, but I’m ready to fire this Eagles season into the sun, and it hasn’t even started yet. Wentz and soft tissue doesn’t sound fantastic, Reagor is hurt, Andre Dillard and Brandon Brooks out for the year. It’s going to be the same thing as last year. You can see it coming from a mile away.
