Not a big surprise here, but Dwayne Haskins was officially named Washington’s week one starter against the Birds. Alex Smith made a miraculous comeback from a terrible leg injury and participated in training camp, but obviously Ron Rivera was leaning towards his second-year, first round draft pick vs. a 36-year-old veteran just returning to action.

Kyle Allen and Steven Montez are also on the depth chart, but here’s your Haskins confirmation:

The Ohio State product played one game against the Eagles last season, which was a 37-27 win for the Birds. Haskins completed 19 of 28 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns, a number inflated by the big 75-yard touchdown pass to Terry McLaurin. He was less than stellar in other games as a rookie, managing seven touchdowns, seven interceptions, and a 76.1 QB rating. He was sacked 29 times in nine games and completed less than 59% of his pass attempts.

He’ll improve in year two, but this feels like a pretty straightforward Eagles win. Birds 27, Washington football team 17.
