Good news:

Jason Peters is close to a return. He’s a better option at guard than Sua Opeta or Jamon Brown or maybe Matt Pryor right now.

Bad news:

Doug Pederson didn’t rule out playing him at left tackle, which would be insane considering the fact that Jordan Mailata has done a really nice job over there following the injuries to Peters and Andre Dillard.

Here’s what Doug said at Wednesday’s press conference, when asked if Peters has a chance to return Sunday night –

“Yeah, first of all, he’s been cleared to return to practice, so that’s exciting for us, to get him back this week and get him in the mix. Right now I think it’s a matter of him getting out there again and feeling comfortable with the offensive line. We haven’t been real committal one way or the other, but he definitely can help us at left tackle and he has the right guard experience. Basically we just need to see him moving around today and tomorrow and see where he can best help us.”

Don’t do it Doug. Don’t you fucking dare put Jason Peters in at left tackle. Just put him at right guard and let Mailata do his thing. Mailata, Nate Herbig, Jason Kelce, Jason Peters, Lane Johnson (he’s day to day), in that order.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Eagles fans everywhere.
