Not sure if any Eagles fans care about winning the NFC East at this point, but if you’re one of them, here’s a relevant nugget.

Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is going to miss Sunday’s game after contracting COVID-19 and won’t call plays for the 5-8 G Men.

From ESPN:

The Giants announced in a statement Thursday that Garrett “will continue to work remotely,” but that tight ends coach Freddie Kitchens will call plays on offense Sunday.

Kitchens was the Browns’ head coach last season.

The Giants will not practice Thursday, citing “an abundance of caution,” but said, “there appear to be no high risk close contacts. We are awaiting confirmation from the league.”

The Freddie Kitchens revenge game.

Kitchens was fired after just one season in Cleveland in which the squad went 6-10 and finished third in the AFC North. In the season prior, he was promoted to offensive coordinator following Hue Jackson’s firing, and the Browns went 5-3 in that span.

As it stands, Washington leads the NFC East with a 6-7 record. They play the Seahawks this weekend as a home underdog. If the Giants and WFT both lose, and the Eagles can find a way to win in Arizona, they’ll improve to 5-8-1 while New York and Washington fall to 6-8 and 5-9, respectively.

The race to determine a division winner might not be pretty, but it’s going to be interesting. The Birds really do a have a chance if they play the way they played against the Saints.
