The Dwayne Haskins era in Washington is over.

From the team:

This is a crazy story, considering the fact that Washington can win the NFC East in week 17. They’ll go with fourth-string QB Taylor Heinicke if Alex Smith can’t play.

But the story also should not be surprising.

Haskins was horrendous on Sunday, completing just 14 of 28 passes and throwing two picks in the home loss to Carolina. Earlier in the week, he issued an apology for going to a party at a strip club and violating COVID-19 protocols in the process. He was benched earlier in the season and just never seemed to have a good relationship with Ron Rivera from the jump.

Haskins was the 16th pick in the 2019 draft. He’ll finish his Washington career with three wins, 12 touchdowns, 14 interceptions, a 74.4 QB rating.

If the Eagles had won yesterday, they could have clinched a playoff spot by beating Taylor Heinicke at home. Incredible.
