Eagles Appear to be Losing Their Best Assistant Coach
Jeff Stoutland’s name has come up a lot over the years.
He’s coached the Eagles’ offensive line since 2013 and later assumed run game coordinator duties as part of an elevated role.
Now he’s reportedly headed back to Alabama to link up with Bill O’Brien:
Look for #Eagles OL coach Jeff Stoutland to replace Kyle Flood (off to Texas) as #Alabama’s offensive line coach. Stoutland who was the Tide’s OL coach in 2011-12, and Nick Saban go back a long time.

As Feldman says there, Stoutland had the prior stint at Bama, and actually came to Philly from Tuscaloosa. Before that, he was the offensive line coach for Miami, Michigan State, and Syracuse, during the Donovan McNabb years.
It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Stoutland was probably Doug Pederson’s best assistant over the years. “Stout” played an integral role in designing blocking schemes and coordinating the running game while overseeing excellent offensive line play on a perennial basis. Under his guidance, the Eagles sent Jason Kelce, Brandon Brooks, Lane Johnson, Evan Mathis, and Jason Peters to the Pro Bowl. He turned a rugby player into a starting-quality tackle, got Big V paid in free agency, and held together a line this season that was absolutely plagued with injuries.
This would be a huge loss.
