Eagles' Predictably Boring Week Continues With More Restructures
Let’s get it back to the Eagles, who are doing diddly poo in free agency right now while making themselves salary cap compliant.
They haven’t added anyone interesting, nor have they been linked to anybody remotely fascinating, depending on how you feel about Jacoby Brissett as a backup QB.
As we search for morsels… or tidbits… or just anything at all, here’s the smallest of nuggets from Field Yates:
As teams work to become cap compliant before the new league year begins, the Packers restructured the deal of OLB Za’Darius Smith.
The Eagles reworked the deals of K Jake Elliott and S Rodney McLeod.

Oh good, they reworked the kicker’s contract! Elliott got a five-year deal in 2019 with almost $6 million guaranteed.
And then you’ve got Rodney McLeod, who was set to hit the cap at around $5 million this year and become a free agent in 2022.
With these two moves, they’ll free up a few million for this season, as they rearrange money and move it further down the line. They’ve already done this with Jason Kelce, the Brandons (Graham and Brooks), Javon Hargrave, Isaac Seumalo, and Big Play Slay.
The best we can hope for is a couple of “prove it” kind of deals. Perhaps they can get some guys in here who are willing to do what Alshon Jeffery did back in 2016. Obviously they aren’t gonna go out and sign Kenny Golladay to a four-year deal, but you might offer Malik Hooker a one-year jawn coming off his injury to see if he can show what he did earlier in his career. Those are the types of moves I’m thinking of. Stop-gap, transitional kind of value signings that might pay off in the future, because we all know the Birds ain’t winning much of anything this year, nor do they have the cap space to load up, like the Patriots.
