Back in the day, Jody McDonald and Glen Macnow did a 610 WIP radio show affectionately known as “Mac and Mac.”

Fast forward a few decades, and Jody is now teaming up with another guy with a similar last name, this time for an Eagles show that will be broadcasted by JAKIB Media.

It’s Jody Mac and John McMullen, hosting a program called Birds 365, which is following the model used by The Middle, featuring Eytan Shander, Harry Mayes, and Barrett Brooks. What that means is that the show will be hosted by PhillyVoice but air on the radio waves as well, across the JAKIB network.

Here’s the press release, which explains is better than I can:

PHILADELPHIA – March 17, 2021 – JAKIB Media Partners announced today that its launching “BIRDS 365” across the JAKIB Media Network. Philly Voice will be the exclusive local digital home of the live show & YouTube will be the exclusive Video Platform.

By popular demand for Hard-Core Philadelphia Eagles Content, the new Birds 365 Show which Jody Mac will co-host with John McMullen, will debut April 5 and air every weekday (8:00am -10:00 am ET) on Philly Voice and exclusive on the JAKIB Media Network. JAKIB Media Radio is available to listeners nationwide on various platforms, connected devices and speakers.

“This will be wall-to-wall Eagles Content,” said Jody Mac. “I am grateful to speak directly to the Eagles Fan Base and provide very defined and specific football content in a great Football City.”

The BIRDS 365 W/ JODY MAC & JOHN MCMULLEN will deliver listeners & viewers the in-depth knowledge and insight that is a cornerstone for Eagles knowledge & good sports talk programming.

Through his four decades on the air, Jody McDonald has been a prominent sports talk voice on nearly every national radio platform and currently can be heard in Philadelphia on 94.1 WIP. He will forever be endeared to the fan base from his days with Glen Macnow. The Mac & Mac Show aired successfully in Philadelphia for a radio decade.

John McMullen is a 30-year Sports media veteran, who covers the Eagles and the National Football League for Sports Illustrated. McMullen has expanded into the digital airwaves and currently dominates the market monthly, enjoying 1.5 Million Minutes of Content consumed by the public. Recently, McMullen entered the Radio Wars with his own weekly show, EXTENDING THE PLAY on AM1490 SPORTS BETTING RADIO after building an empire of die-hard fans while working with the ESPN affiliate in South Jersey.

“Jody Mac & Johnny Mac will provide football content in one of the most passionate sports cities in the world. Listeners will be drawn to this show,” said Joe Krause, Founder of JAKIB Media. “This show is for fans who know it all and for fans that want to understand it all.”

This sounds pretty cool, and I’m not just saying that because Jody has me on his WIP show. He’s one of the more respected local radio guys, a veteran who has been doing it for a long time. And John McMullen has a burgeoning underground/online type of following, which helped him earn the #4 seed in the Chris Gocong regional within our Eagles Media Field of 64 bracket.

Interestingly enough, JAKIB is now producing four hours worth of alternative digital/hybrid content in the Philadelphia region. If you wanted to, you could tune in to this show from 8 to 10 in the morning, then roll back in with The Middle from 11 to 1 p.m. JAKIB kind of exists somewhere in… the middle of the sports content spectrum right now, because they’re doing a mix of terrestrial radio and digital stuff at the same time.

The only negative thought I have is this –

Do we really need another Eagles show? I guess the difference here is that Jody and John won’t be taking phone calls from Johnny in South Philly, so that will be refreshing. If we can get straight-forward Birds talk without the crapola, then it usually sells. It will be interesting to see how they do when going up against the second half of Angelo and John Kincade’s shows on a daily basis.

Go Birds!
