More fallout from the Tom Wilson nonsense that took place on Monday night.

If you didn’t see the video, the Washington Capitals’ king jabroni hit New York’s Pavel Buchnevich in the back of head after pushing him face-first into the ice, then grabbed Artemi Panarin by the hair and also slammed him to the ground.

Wilson, who has been doing this kind of stuff for years now, was only fined $5k by the NHL, which was seen as a total joke by everybody who does not identify as a Caps fan.

The Rangers were super pissed about this, and in addition to brawling with the Caps on the ice, the franchise released a statement calling Wilson a “repeat offender” while calling for the removal of George Parros, who heads the Department of Player Safety:

Those are pretty damning words, but there’s nothing but truth in there. Everything is 100% accurate.

The NHL, however, did not like the Rangers calling out Parros specifically, and fined the franchise a quarter of a million dollars:

Just so we’re clear here, we have now handed out a $5k fine to a dirty player and repeat offender, but the Rangers get a $250k fine for questioning that decision, and Parros’ ability to do the job.

Of course, it’s expected that the league is going to reprimand a team for going after one person specifically, but New York was just putting into words what fans have unanimously believed for years now, that Tom Wilson is a dirty player who has crossed the line all too frequently with little in the way of meaningful punishment.
